Counterpoised Pen

The Counterpoised Pen was the result of a year long research and development project which surrounded the philosophy of dignified design for disability. Throughout this project I spoke with design for disability experts, occupational therapists and potential users.

The Counterpoised Pen has a total of 5 weights and 4 distinctive grips, which can be rearranged using a hex key in under 30 seconds.

Each user is able to configure the pen to suit their own specific needs - challenging the one size fits all standard.

This project won the RMIT Industrial Design Honours High Achievement Award.

This product celebrates what most attempt to hide, featuring an exposed player mechanism, bolts and screws - embracing the core values of neo-brutalist design.

There is nothing glamorous about this CD player.

Ironing Weights

This was a collaborative project I did with TOM Melbourne, where we co-designed these weights for Michelle, who has no functional use or sensation in her left arm due to a brachial plexus injury and irons one-handed.

Designed for people who need extra support during ironing. It can be helpful for individuals with limited dexterity, fatigue, or one handed use.
